Surge protection is a big deal in industry and at the office. Expensive electronics permeate the workplace wherever you turn, and surge protection can save hundreds, even thousands of dollars in expensive replacement and repair of electronics as well as lost man-hours due to downtime. In your home office a plug strip type surge protector may do, but in the workplace it can be unsightly, unsafe and even in violation of municipal ordinances. A surge protection receptacle meets this challenge, providing ample protection against voltage spikes and power surges while maintaining aesthetic and legal compliance.
Providing 15 amp and 20 amp options, these electrical devices protect against up to 700 joules of power surge. Many plug strip type surge suppressors provide less than 300 joules of protection, while expert opinion advises 600 joules of protection for maximum safety. Exceeding these professional standards, these flush mount surge protector receptacles get the job done. You can be confident those servers or that expensive metal lathe are going to be protected in the event of an overvoltage situation, or excess power spike due to lightning.
Not only do they protect your equipment, they also protect your personnel. Instead of having plug strips present a fall hazard, these mount right in a standard electrical device box. This also eliminates the unsightly tangle of wires, which is not only unpleasant on the eyes, but poses a real danger for overheating. This is why extension cords are not suitable for more than a temporary application, they are exposed to physical wear and connection points can become loose fitting over time, generating heat and a fire potential.
The Leviton name is one of those staples in the electrical construction industry, a real leader in the field. They provide solutions for contractors that help to save time and money, and they address the ever changing regulations and practices with innovation rather consistently. As an example, they’ve come out with a line of quad surge protector receptacles that have a relatively quick install time and fit in a single gang box, providing more opportunity to minimize archaic electrical hazards. The Leviton surge protector receptacle is a welcome addition for electrical installations everywhere. You can review surge protector info on their website or ask about Leviton devices through your power company.

The recession has forced a lot of PC owners to rethink upgrading their XP computers. This Reimage review shows how this is perhaps not such a bad thing so long as you are still scheduling upkeep tasks and making effective repairs using PC maintenance software.
Even before the recession struck, XP owners were quite happy to stick with the OS:
- Patch updates (from SP2 on) had made it stable and quite secure.
- Vista was a poor upgrade to make.
- PCs from the year 2000 on were powerful enough for most people’s needs (so upgrading computers because of their performance was not necessary).
The downside of this is that XP machines that are several years old are prone to software faults being introduced through general use and installing/removing applications. The following scheduled task can help with the upkeep of a basically healthy XP machine:
- Run the Windows Update Service regularly for updates.
- Run anti-virus scans often and keep their virus definitions current.
- Keep 10% free disk space, clearing out unused applications if necessary.
- Defragment drives every 14 to 28 days.
- Back-up registry files and personal data religiously.
These tasks make faults less likely to occur. When issues like corrupted registry files, virus damage or blue screen exceptions do occur it is possible to fall back on using PC maintenance software such as the Reimage repair tool.
The Reimage review and repair process runs as a web service (i.e. within a browser) by:
- Repairing damaged/missing registry keys using a database of thousands of working registry configurations.
- Repairing device drivers, OS files and third-party applications using a data store of over 25 million XP specific files.
The catalog of XP issues that Reimage can fix is extensive thanks to their holistic approach of analyzing both the registry and file system.
Ultimately Microsoft will start phasing out support for XP. With scheduled task to keep up the PCs basic health levels and effective home PC repairs using tools like Reimage it should still be possible for any XP computer to be a viable & useful PC for years to come.

For years, Canon has been providing a broad range of innovative and top-of-the-line technological products in order to cater the varying needs of modern-day users. From cameras up to printers, Canon has always proved that the products they produce are of the highest standards. In particular, a well-known line of top-class photo printers from Canon emerged in the market, called as the Pixma Series. Like with other models, Pixma printers also require cartridge replacement when they run out of ink.
One of the Pixma printers that have been getting positive reviews these days is the Canon Pixma ip1500. Since it is generally intended for photo printing, its ink tends to run out quickly. If this happens, it is important to change the ink cartridge as soon as possible so as not to risk the quality of the photos.
To change ink cartridge of a Canon Pixma IP1500 printer, first thing to do is to first turn on the unit. After that, wait for the green light indicating that the printer is ready to use. Next, open its top cover so you can easily locate its cartridges. Slowly remove the cartridge by pressing it down until it pops out. Properly dispose the cartridge following the rules and regulations about hazardous consumables. After which, prepare the new ink cartridge by removing its packaging. Do not forget to remove its protective cover.
Lastly, install it properly by pressing the new cartridge firmly until it snaps in place. Once you are certain that the cartridge is firmly secured, close the top cover of the printer. After closing, the cartridge should automatically move to the right. If not, better check it again to see if you have installed the new cartridge properly. When everything is in place, do test prints to see if the new ink cartridge is working perfectly.
With onsite IT training there are many things that you can do since the options are available, but make sure this is the right choice for you. This is because traditional onsite learning might not be for everyone, and online learning should be considered as well. With online learning the material is learned through a professor who will teach you in a typical classroom setting allowing you to interact face to face instead of over a screen.
The prices vary depending on the school you attend and the amount of classroom hours you’re in need of in order to complete the IT degree. This is something that also varies online, but normally online learning costs less than traditional classroom learning because of the amount of material you have to learn, or purchase in order to complete the degree.
Choosing to go with onsite IT training allows you more when it comes to the classroom, and finding all of the information you will need by asking the professor. Of course this can be done when you ask the professor online, but it is more personal, and they can show you how to relate to the material face to face without having to worry about internet connection barriers that might come about.

This might stop you from going to your online classes, but it will not matter if you’re learning onsite. Using gas might need to be thought about if you’re going to be learning onsite since you will need to get there, and it might also consume your time for the rides there and back, as well as in the classroom. If you have a job or a family it might take extra time you have from them, and on the school work in order to complete it in the time they allow.
Finding out how much each cost should also be done. You do not want to spend too much on schooling that you are not doing well at, or cannot seem to find the time to do. Onsite IT training might not be for everyone, but it doesn’t mean you should cross it off right away since it might work with your particular situation. Find out all of the classrooms that are accepting students now instead of having to wait. There is no better time to start learning the IT information you would like to know. Look into it online, and you might open some extra doors to your future.
The oil pressure gauge is an indicator on your car’s dashboard used to warn you of low oil pressure. Many people think it is an indicator of the volume of oil in the engine but as the name suggests it actually measures pressure not volume, although one is a function of the other.
The gauge gets its readings from an oil pressure sensor inside the engine. This sensor monitors the pressure of the oil as it is pumped around the engine by the oil pump. Because oil needs to circulate at a specific rate to do its job if the pressure falls the engine is at risk of being damaged.
The main purpose of oil inside the engine is to lubricate moving parts. Oil forms a cushion between these parts stopping them from coming into contact with each other and therefore stopping them from wearing each other out. If there is insufficient oil it cannot provide enough of a cushion to stop the parts from rubbing together and damaging each other. Because the heat in the engine is so extreme hot parts rapidly rubbing against each other can even weld together. This causes fatal damage to the engine.
Oil also helps to cool the engines. After the oil has been through the engine it collects underneath the engine in the oil pan. As the car moves the passage of around this pan helps to cool it. Therefore when the oil enters the engine again it is cooler and this has a cooling effect on the engine. However, this is not enough to cool the engine by itself and extra cooling systems are needed.
That’s why the oil pressure gauge is one of the most critical indicators on your dashboard and as soon as you notice the light coming on or an alarm sounding then you should take immediate action to rectify the problem. There are many automotive guides about what to do in this situation. One such site is the oil pressure gauge guide blog.
An aquarium’s filtration system is easily its most complex and essential component. To understand why, we must first understand that fish tank aquariums are not mere containers that hold water, fish, and ornaments. Instead they are their own little marine ecosystem, made up of complex interactions between chemicals and living beings. The filter is an especially important part of this ecosystem because it protects the habitability of the water by removing any harmful or unwanted debris and maintaining the chemical balance. The main purpose of the filter is to regulate the amount of ammonia in the water. This ammonia is produced by the respiration and excretions of the fish, along with any decomposing organic matter. Getting rid of this ammonia is simply a matter of allowing nitrogen fixing bacteria to break it down into nitrates. The bacteria requires a large amount of surface area on which to grow on, and this is what the filter provides – they are often composed of a porous sponge upon whose large surface area the bacteria is allowed to thrive. Aside from this biological component, filters also serve a mechanical and chemical role. They remove any particulate matter, such as bits of uneaten fish food, waste matter, and aquatic plant debris. Chemical filtration removes any unwanted compounds and waste material that has dissolved into the water by employing either activated carbon or foam fractionation.

There are several types and configurations of aquarium filters, each designed to suit the specific needs of different set ups. External filters are located outside of the aquarium itself, with the tank water being continuously pumped through a series of different filter media and returned back into the aquarium. This type of setup is ideal for aquarists who do not wish to have a filter system taking up space inside the tank itself. Because they are not designed to be as compact or inconspicuous, external filters are generally easier to maintain, and much more effective than most internal filter systems.
Internal filters are located within the confines of their fishtank aquariums, whose biological filtration component is usually made up of a chemically inert sponge with a large surface area to play host to nitrogen fixing bacteria. These filters can either be passive or active, with active internal filters having electric pumps that continuously pump water through the sponge. Other variations of the internal system include airlift filters, which uses an air pump to create bubbles and water flow, corner filters, and simple sponge filters. Because of the difficulty involved with maintaining them, internal Filter systems are generally better suited for smaller tanks.

Some filtration systems make active use of the environment within the tank in order to facilitate biological filtration. Under gravel filters rely on the gravel substrate on the bottom of the aquarium to provide the surface for the necessary bacteria to grow on. A porous plate is placed underneath the substrate, through which an external air pump or internal water pump provides suction. The water passes through the gravel, which filters out any debris. The bacteria growing on the gravel then converts the ammonia into nitrates. This system however requires that the gravel be distributed evenly on the bottom for it to work. A passive variation of this system is called a deep sand bed. In this case, a bed of 4 to 6 inches of fine sand resides at the bottom of the aquarium. The sand becomes host to anaerobic bacteria that breaks down ammonia. This method, however, can only be used in salt water aquariums.
There are many methods of filtration available for fishtank aquariums. Most prepackaged sets usually have a filter included, but these can sometimes be inadequate. The smartest option would be to evaluate filtration needs based on tank size, fish types, and desired maintenance cycles.
